Hello everyone I am in the market for a new to me 2005 Monaco Dynasty M/H. I am a 5th wheel owner and due to Wife's health problems I am looking into a M/H. Any help as what to look for and what to avoid, any help would be helpful. Thankyou Diesel Guy.

Decent coach...but because it was used...the records will tell the story...Drive and also let a good RV diesel shop look at it...May cost a bit US 250 about...but it will give you peace of mind to get a professional opinion of it....

Diesel Guy, My wife and I had never owned any kind of RV, in fact we had never even owned a pup tent when we bought our 2001 Diplomat. As soon as I drove it home from AZ I drove it to the local Cummins service center and had the ECM scanned and all of the oils changed and a lube done. I drove it to Elkhart, IN and had some remodeling done and had the seals replaced on the 2 slides. Out of all six tires 5 of them were original and the sidewalls were cracked. Six new tires, 2 sway bars, 8 new shock absorbers, and a new residential refrigerator.

If I were to do this again I would have bought a much newer coach instead of spending a lot of money on an older one. I have had to replace a lot of other things that I am not going to list but these motorhomes are a nice way to travel if you have a pet or pets. We have met a lot of nice people doing this and will keep doing it until we cannot afford to, or we develop some kind of health problems that would prevent it. George R. 2001 Diplomat

Diesel Guy,

Stuart gave you good advise. Have a sample of both oil & tranny fluid sent to a lab for testing. Check to see if maintenance records are available and study them in detail. Some time in '05 Cummins had a group of ISL engines with bad wrist pins. This is a well known defect and if you call Cummins with the engine number they can tell you if it's in the group. The '05 Dynasty is a class act and is built on one of the best chassis in the business.

Good luck and safe travels.
