I agree with Captjake with regards to Shure marine.
I called from home in Canada and requested a new coil for our Aqua Hot and they had one in stock and the best price I could find anywhere.
We just drove down there and picked it up. Also got a new nozzle and filter while we were there.
Lucky for us it was just a nice afternoon drive.
Iver.

irishguy,

Sorry to be late to the party here. I looked at your profile and you live in Canada. (From your post I thought you were just visiting Canada.) Since you live in Canada you should investigate Webasto replacement parts for your AquaHot unit.

The main "guts" of all AquaHots are sourced from Webasto and re-branded by AquaHot. AquaHot adds some of the pumps, plumbing and the controller unit and puts it all in a stainless steel box. The re-branded parts come with a surcharge over Webasto prices. There seems to be some sort of an agreement with Webasto that they will not market their heater products to the RV market in the US giving exclusive rights to Vehicle Systems (AquaHot). But, this ban does not seem to extend to Canada. (I am not going to go into detail but some of the best prices in the US come from dealers who deal directly with contacts in Canada for Webasto products.)

You would be well served to ask RV dealers in your area about Wabesto parts sources. You might even find information from Commercial Truck dealers in your area that sell Webasto heaters. You won't find this on the internet so you will have to ask around there in Canada.

As far as keeping extra parts on hand, you can pretty well be sure that if you buy an extra pump, your spark coil will go bad. Or if you buy extra bearings something else will give out. So, what you really want to have at hand is where you can source these products when you need them. Maintenance parts, however, are good to have around. I keep a couple of nozzles and an extra filter in the rig at all times. On the filter be sure to get a replacement for the one you have in your rig. I suspect you have a Racor filter like I do. The filter at the website mentioned by Captjake1 would not fit your unit if I am right.

Google "AquaHot Maintenance" for some good ideas on how to maintain your unit and you should be good to go.

Bob

Bob,

That is very interesting...a few weeks ago I was driving by a large truck service centre in my city...it has a sign in a window advertising as a "Webasto" dealer. I made a mental note of it because I knew there was some kind of connection between Webasto and Aquahot but I didn't give it anymore thought until reading your post.

So you're saying I could get a nozzle and fuel filter through Webasto? However not pumps, controller, thermostats etc?

That is correct. That is how I got my last parts and bit was cheaper. Though the filter may be different. My neighbor right now has a Prevost Marathon with Wabasto. It used a very simple plastic in line filter.

Lol!
The coach on the other side is aquahot, but says he NEVER runs the diesel, only electric. Don't know how he does that....super duper short showers? Lol

Yes. But, more importantly you can get the higher priced units as well. All the boiler parts -- motor, spark coil, blower, flame sensor, fuel pump etc. -- which are the really expensive ones) are Webasto. It is certainly worth checking out. And, you should be able to get service parts as well.

Just know the fuel filter (which I will bet is a Racor [now Parker] R12T) is a USA product so you probably won't be able to get it from a Webasto source.

A good source for quick Aqua Hot Repairs is a mobile RV fellow. When we bpught our 08 Dynasty the AH stopped working in the fall. We were in N.D. on our way to Minneapolis. I called AH and they walked me through a few diagnostic steps. It was the low coolant sensor. Apparently a common problem. I was bale to by pass the sensor and thought I would have it fixed in Minneapolis. We pulled into the CG and Tom's Mobile RV passed me at the office. In huge letters across the front was" AQUA HOT SPECIALIST' He had a fridge to fix and then came over to our site. He had an upgraded sensor and in 30 minutes all was good. AH paid him under warranty! This past fall we had problems with a shorted thermostat. Burnt all the wires. I couldn't figure out where they all went. I stopped in Minneapolis and Tom fixed it all in 1.5 hours. He had all the parts in his truck. Really knows his stuff. I have encountered some good ones in the Southwest but also some scam artists in Q. I get my filters on line. They are for home heating oil. I use the same brand as original. Roger Berke has an excellent AH forum. he will go out of his way to help and has a good stock of parts.

Bucars RV here in Calgary (Balzac) is an authorized AquaHot Service Centre. I find their prices "reasonable" for small parts; larger items like circulation pumps, they are stuck ordering them in (not in stock) and the price gets higher to cover the Fx, shipping, etc. In these cases I usually order from US and send to US shipping address (example - Montana Shipping Outlet in SweetGrass Montana) and then go pick it up. Of course I usually combine many orders from Amazon, other US suppliers to make the trip worthwhile.

Bucars RV link.

I find Roger Berke and his Hydronic Heater Repair to be very helpful and his prices are good - however he does not ship to Canada.

I managed to get a new nozzle at a local heavy truck service centre today that also is a Webasto dealer. Unfortunately they can't get me the required fuel filter for our unit. That I will get from our neighboring province of Alberta.

Although I think I may have got hosed on cost of the new nozzle. It cost me $42.00. Seems like a lot for such a small part.
