We just got our first coach with aqua hot. Its works great. Our concern is there the exhaust smell is strong. Is that normal? Could it be running rich?

Do you have a combination diesel/electric heating unit on your system?

The diesel exhaust from the Aqua Hot does have a distinctive smell. But it seems to get milder after some use. If you can't see the exhaust, then it is probably not burning rich.

The exhaust odor is an easy trade-off for the advantages of the Aqua Hot. I wouldn't buy a coach without one ever again.........

Yes, we have both electric or diesel.
It seems when it first fires up we see a little smoke then its clean from there on out.

As long as it isn't setting off the carbon monoxide sensor in the coach it's probably safe. The unit should be serviced every year, how old is the unit and has it been serviced? Ours runs cleaner and with less odor now that we're using ULSD fuel. It used to leave a sooty spot on the ground before now all it does is kill the grass.
