Aquahot Diesel ? Leaking, Where

It smells like oil.
Not diesel.
Its not coming from the burner.
It has to be coming from inside the chamber.

I just put in a new orfice and changed filter.

It ran 30 minutes just fine. And all this leaked.

I turned the burner off now.

And left the electric on.

Have any of you seen this kind of leak ?

I dont think ? Its antifreeze.
Smells like oil. More than diesel.???

Ill pull the burner tomorrow and clean the plate up.

Could be boiler fluid. Have you checked the overflow tank level? The green fluid turns brown after awhile.

The overflow tank is on the hot level line.
It has not move this fall and the burner has been active , per thermostat that is, constantly 6 weeks now as we have had cool weather.

3 years ago we drained and flushed the fluid 2 times.
Per aquahot recommendations
We filled with green antifreeze.

They didnt want any boiler fluid in my model.

We also replaced all the boiler valves at the same time.
As 1 was gunked up.

They especially didnt want some boiler fluid to react with the antifreeze. And turn milky sticky brown. As they described it.
To plug the boiler valve's.

Get a wire or something pinched between the burner and the housing?

No
I thought of that wide glide
But this worked and didnt leak for a year.
Since the last service.

This started this Monday.
I serviced it today.
I checked and double checked.
Its snug solid .
Its leaking behind the shroud that hides the coils.

I will pull the burner again tomorrow and inspect more carefully.

Thatnks for your suggestions
Tomorrow is a new day.

Depending on the model you may have a drain pipe located directly below the motor. Early models used a plastic pipe that would crack. Mine did and leaked boiler fluid. Replacement pipes are metal. The crack can be difficult to spot but since you just removed the burner unit perhaps you cracked the pipe in the process.

The leak started monday.
I serviced the burner today.

I just checked the unit, 9:30 pm

The burner has not been on since about 4 pm.

No fresh leaking. I cleaned the area again.
And will check it in the morning.

I do pray the leak is from the burner unit.

And not the coil or the tank.

I will run the burner in the morning.
IF I HAVE NO LEAKING OVERNIGHT.

I will update.

Thanks for your suggestions

Looks like I have all copper tubing.
The picture shows the area of leaking

Your correct falconman

The overflow is down half a quart this am.
I just went ahead and put a quart in the overflow tank.

I shut the burner off at about 4 pm yesterday.

But the electric eliment is on.
I have hot water.

So its not the burner afterall.

Its internal and I will have to deal with it.

I can get it in Monday at Vizone, New Bernstadt Ky and they will remove the unit and assess the issue .

I hope its a copper fitting or like repair???

I will give a report when I get it fixed.

Thanks for all your help everyone

Make sure you check the "neck" that the radiator cap attaches to. They are notorious for leaking.
Why do Aqua hot issues always happen in the winter when you you need to depend on the system!

Ha Ha
Yes

I had to rebuild the burner in mid November 6 years ago.
It was 19 degrees in North Central Ohio
And we wanted to get to Florida.

Roger Burk had it Back to me in 3 days.
And off we went.

Now, we were scheduled to leave this Saturday am. Functioning flawlessly ever since.

Fortunately Visone is in rout and they can get me in Monday.

The non reinforced hose to radiator cap overflow is notorious for splitting right under cap . Fingers crossed .
