My troubleshooting book for my AquaHot (AHE-100-01S) doesn't have much on the electric side. I was looking at the illustration showing all the parts of the system and noticed the electric element was pretty close to the bottom of the unit. I'm guessing if one has to replace the element, the system has to be completely drained. Heard a while back there is fifty gallons of antifreeze in there...(or was it thirty), so this sounds like quite a project if the element can be confirmed as bad.

So what would the procedure be to troubleshoot electric side problems (flow chart)?

Thanks in advance for replies.

There is only about 13-15 gallons of boiler antifreeze in the unit. The easiest way to tell if the electrical element is bad is with an ohm meter. You can take the side cover off the Aqua Hot and get to the terminals of the actual element and read the resistance through it. Most of the time the fault is a blown high temp safety sensor which is easy to get to. If you go up on Aqua Hots website you can download the manuals for your unit.

My Aqua Hot in a 2004 Monaco Signature has about 16 gallons of fluid in it. My friend's 2004 Beaver's (same #) would not work on electric also. He had a repairman over and it was not the element, it was a switch inside. He did not have to drain it for the repairs. Someone will answer with the Troubleshooting Guide anytime now.. Also there is an Aqua Hot forum on Yahoo Forums I think, there is someone named Roger who is an EXPERT on them...

Encourage you to contact Roger Berke - expert on hydronic units. He has his own forum at RV Hydronic Heater Repair - Home. He is very helpful if you post a question on his site. Look on the left side of this site and you see a link to the forum.

The electric system in your model of Aqua-Hot is pretty straightforward. The electric elements very seldom fail, most failures are with one of the thermostats. Your model has about 16 gallons of coolant inside, which does need to be removed to replace the electric element.

Join my Forum. There is troubleshooting guide on the electric system available.
