I have always noticed that the temperature control in our coach was awful and would freeze us in the summer and suffocate us in the winter. Yesterday I pulled the little covers off the wall that cover the temperature sensors and found that Monaco seems to think we are rats and live in the wall cavity. The techs that installed the sensors did a good job of keeping the sensor secured but in the process looped the wire sticking the white bulb on the end of the wire back inside the wall. I reconfigured the wire to place the white bulb just behind the grill of the cover so room air could reach the sensor. I also stuffed tissue paper in the hole to block the outside air from affecting the sensor. I set the front heat pump to 64 before we went to bed last night and we did not have to throw the covers off during the night. This morning I noticed the room had an even temp and the thermometer at the dash said 63. Now that is more like it. I also noticed that the heat pump cycles at about a 50% duty cycle which is recommended for best efficiency. So if you are having trouble with even temperature control you might check to see if the sensor is stuffed back inside the wall.

I found the same condition on my 2005 Ambassador. Both front and rear temp sensors were doubled and inside the cabinet. I did as you, straightned the wire so the white end was inside the cover and I filled the hole in the cabinet with silicone. Works much better.

I have the same problem in the front on my 01 Windsor 38 PBDD. I can't find the sensor. The bedroom sensor I moved as you guys did. Anyone know where it is?

You've all heard the expression "put a cork in it." At the iRV2 rally in Myrtle Beach, that's the advice I was given to fix the problem. The cork acts as insulation to prevent false readings from the draft coming in from behind the wall and its diameter is a perfect fit for the whole. Put a small hole in the cork so that the sensor fits thru it, keeping it in place just behind the cover.
Using tissue paper and silicone may work but using a cork means you get to drink a bottle of wine.

I blew some hot air from my lungs onto the sensors. Easy fix. Wish everything was that easy.

Where are these sensors normally located? I think I see a small nubby thing near the headboard of the bed....not sure what it is though.

We found exactly the same problem on our HR. I did straighten out the wire and have been diligently drinking wine ever since, but did not connect the idea of using the cork in the hole. Thanks for that tip!

Bob,
A recovered alcoholic here so I steer away from the wine. Drink two extra bottles and send me the corks! Great ideal on the cork. On the road in not so warm Florida so the tissue was a field repair.

My MH has 2 sensors. Front one is located on the bottom of the tv cabinet. it is a small (about 2 in. in size) basket shape cover held by 2 screws. Rear is same cover located above the bed on curb side. Just remove the cover and you can see the wire probe inside.

The sensors are usually behind a round brown plastic grill. The grill is a bit more than an inch in diameter, and has a marble-sized dome bulging out of the center of it. The dome has slots to allow air flow. Of course, there may be variations between models and years, so you might have something different. On mine, both are on the curb side, with the front sensor being near the front door, and the rear sensor being all the way in the back corner next to the closet.
While people are taking off the covers and adjusting the wires, here's another tip: the covers have slots, and they allow the best airflow to the sensor when the slots run vertically. However, often they are installed with the slots running horizontally. So when you're putting them back on, make sure they are vertical.
