Atwood 8940-III-DCLP no start problem solved

I posted October 04 /18 Our furnace will not start , "No fan on start up and of course no ignition ..."
Well it took a while to find out why, the On /Off 15 Amp switch/fuse? at the blower fan seemed to be the problem .( see attached photo ) After switching it on and off several times and nothing happened I tried to remove the switch wiggling the wires at the back of it and suddenly the fan started, ignition after a short while and the furnace has worked well ever since. However I'd like to find a " Switch/Fuse " like this in case it fails again . Anyone out there knows where to buy on ? Happy Trails & Safe Travel

People seem to like these marine style breakers.

Are you sure this is a fuse.

My guess it is an ON/Off switch rated for 15 amps.

It is a combination switch/circuit breaker

Suburban doesn't use the toggle anymore.....replaced with 'push' style switch/cb

It looks like the specific switch in the photo may no longer be available. Dometic bought Atwood a couple of years ago. I would call Dometic Tech Support and see what they recommend as a substitute -- 800-544-4881. Have all the info from the furnace data plate available as well as the photo of the switch. I have heard good things about Dometic Cust. Support. Would like to hear about your experience with them, if you call them.

Thanks,

Atwood 8940-III-DCLP no start problem solved

I had a no start issue with my 8949 not firing but the fan would blow. I traced the wiring and found a low voltage to the circuit board. I traced that back to a micro switch inside the squirrel cage fan housing. When the fan blows the little vane on the switch was supposed to close the circuit providing power to the board. I cleaned the fan off (it had a buildup of dusty crud) and cleaned the switch and vane off. I actuated the switch outside of the housing and the flame came on. Problem solved. I put it back together and all is well.
Hope this helps someone with a no start issue.
