Atwood Water Heater

I am trying to flush out my hotwater heater with vinegar to help remove the scale. I am using the water pump and five gallons of white vinegar. I can not get the vinegar to flow into the heater. The bypass is in the normal position and all faucets are off. Any suggestions??? Do I need to fill all the water lines with vinegar before water will flow into the hot water tank? Thanks, any help will be appreciated. Forgot to mention that it is a 2013 Monaco Knight.

You would be better off removing the pressure relief valve and pouring the vinegar into the water heater. Be sure the pressure is let off the water system before removing the valve. While you are at it you could soak the valve in vinegar after you drain the heater.
You will need to flush the entire water system after running vinegar through it.

Nothing can flow INTO water heater tank W/O opening a faucet HOT side

Open the closet faucet hotside only.....turn pump on (assume you are sucking vinegar into pump via a 'winterizing' valve/line?)

Suck up the full amount of vinegar then flow that with water so you have a vinegar/water solution in water heater tank. (4 to 2 ratio)
Turn pump off/close faucet
Then turn water heater ON (electric if possible) and let it operate overnight going thru 4-5 heating cycles (heat/cool down/reheat)
This will help break down any scale inside tank/on element etc

After heating cycles are completed.turn water heater off/let cool then open closet faucet to relieve pressure. Remove drain plug. close faucet and turn on water supply....full pressure to blast out thru drain hole
(drain hole is ONLY 1/2" so the full pressure provides a power flush...especially when removing scale)

Afterwards....flush cold/hot lines

Thanks for the help with the atwood water heater. Got the job done. Found out both bypass valves were froze shut. I replaced both valves and everything worked as it should. Thanks for the help.
