Just purchased an 01 Dynasty w/ elec. awning. Another Dynasty owner told me there are supposed to be brackets for the awning to brace it in wind. Another owner said they were a pain and never used them. Soooo, the question is, how important are they?

If your awning is a Carefree one-touch it is very important. leaving it out in a moderate breeze is risking an unwanted fold up.

Look here. http://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/rv...asp?m=01010103

I found another doc from carefree on how to install the braces, there are pix too. They were shipped with the awning when it was new.
http://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/pdf/052943-001.pdf

If this is your awning, a pair of spring loaded supports fit between the main arm and the foldout arms at the top of the awning. This prevents a fold up due to wind gusts. They allow you to leave the awning out in moderate breezes. I've had the awning slammed up against the coach by a wind gust when I neglected to use the props. Not too likely to produce really bad damage but alarming and disturbing to your afternoon siesta!!

If you can you should go back to the dealer you bought it from and beat them up a bit to see if they'll give you a little help with getting those braces. The dealers know when things are missing on a coach and should tell you.

My coach is at the dealer now getting a bunch of little stuff fixed....they poo pooed the braces. I didn't look under the bed to see if they might be there.....but I think your right, I won't give in on this one.

Hi teoff -

Well, I can't help you much with the awning, but I can do something about member-status!

Glad to have you around.
Ron
