Wondering if any PLQ owners have an awning on their back window. I am always looking for the elusive rear windows, and don't think I have ever seen any with an awning.

I love my rear and side window in the back. I sit here working all day long, and I love to be able to watch out over the world while I am doing it. I think the simple Carefree awnings would be great, but don't know if there are any concerns with the rear window, such as wind/dirt off the back of the coach, interference with the rear camera, etc. Thinking there may be a reason I have never seen a PLQ with a rear awning.

Here is my current view. I guess if I have to work, I would rather do it here than anywhere else

And THIS Ron will chime in with some more choice words! Nice view! So, where exactly are you right now?

I was about to say I didn't think rear-awnings would be a good idea probably because of the air-currents causing it to billow out, til I looked out the window just now and saw an Airstream with one. I doubt their aerodynamics are all that much different, so maybe it is a viable solution after all. I bet it can be installed so it doesn't interfere with the camera-view (unless you plan to drive it with the awning open), but dirt will always be an issue. Dunno for sure about the internal construction on yours, but I'd bet there's studs/ribs framing the window that could be a secure base.

Be interesting to hear what Carefree/etc have to say.

We have the same model (but HR) and I was wondering the same thing last year. I ended up putting a sunshade on it. Now that we are downsizing our new unit will have a rear window so I can start thinking about it again.

No question that the 40PLQ is one of the best floorplans for our needs. If we hadn't bought the park model next to us we'd hopefully have had it for many years. At 40 ft 10 inches an a longish toad the total of almost 62 feet is much larger than we want or need now. I do think an awning would be the best bet. I wish Monaco/HR offered awning options for almost all windows.

Don

ps: we did both sides and the back last year

Saw one on the interstate a couple of days ago. I don't know what hind of coach iot was. It was to far ahead of me and traffic was to heavy to catch up. Looked kind of cool.

Don:

Who is the manufacturer of the shades on your Ambassador? How are they attached? Thanks for any information you can provide.

If anyone with a 40PLQ or a similar window config would like to buy ours we would sell them as they were not included in our trade deal. We thought we'd probably have them recut to match our new Super C - but that really should be our last choice since it has so much less glass.
