Awning power

I will be the first to admit that I am not that mechanical but I can usually get by on minor items. I will also admit I know NOTHING about electrical. I have had trouble with the awning retracting without tripping the breaker several times to get it retracted, unless it has been raining and the awning is wet. I read on the forum elsewhere that these awning motors require a full 12 volts so I decided to check it. After figuring out I couldn't get the outside plugs apart (no idea what the hell holds them together) outside I went to the switch in dash. After trial and error in checking wires the best I could get was 11.18 volts. I have no idea where the 12 volt ground wires are located so I cleaned the battery terminals. They were already in good shape and that little exercise made no difference. Ok, great! I thought that lack of power was my problem and now I know it is lacking on power. Now what!? Tracing the wires looks to be quite daunting. I did ask Monaco for electrical diagrams because the ones in the owners manual are not correct and too small for old eyes to read.

What type of awning do you have.

I had a similar problem on my Carefree One Touch. It ended up being the plug that you couldn't get apart. If you have the manuals it should show how this works on the installation portion. It is a twist lock, I had a hard time getting mine apart but once I did I cleaned up the connections and it's worked fine ever since.
