Bad smell

My MH has been sitting for about 45 days now.I went inside and decided to open the faucets and run some water in the sinks and with in a minute or so the room filled with this nasty sewer smell.
Any idea what would cause this? My first thought is the P traps in the sink dried up,but I don't know.
Thanks for your input.

the p traps could have dried up, but as soon as you fill them with water, the smell can't come through.

As mentioned, you may need to sanitize the complete water system. If the water itself smells, that's your problem.

another possibility is you air admittance vent could not be working correctly. If the sewer smell is stronger under your sinks, they could be your problem as well.

Usually under the bathroom sink. Black ABS piece.
If it was the P traps, that smell can take a LONG TIME to clear out.
Remember the P trap for the washer if it has one.

Ditto Whenever I am going to be off the road for more than a few days I drain the water heater. Try a bottle of water freshener at any camping store.

I can't remember the exact ratio, but use about 1/4 cup of bleach to 15 gallons of water. I premix the bleach in a bucket of water then pour the solution into the fresh water tank. run all the faucets, including hot water until you smell bleach coming from faucet.. Let it sit for a few hours and flush it all out.

Remember to take any water filter cartridge's out before you start this process.

Same thing just happened to me. It wasn't the traps in my case. After checking and topping off my batteries I rinsed my hands and they smelled just like what came out of the faucet. I didn't think fresh water would spoil in the tank. Sanitizing the system as I write this.

It's been sitting in storage waiting for inspection.

Should I do the same solution for the gray water because the smell could be from their too.

Thank You

Your sinks and shower will drain the bleach solution into the grey but if you want to add a little extra solution directly down one of the drains, it can't hurt. The grey tank can sometimes smell as bad or worse than the black tank.

Everytime we empty the tanks at the last cg before headed home, I put 5 or so gallons of clean water in the grey and black and put dawn dish soap down there. It sloshes around for a few hundred miles and when I do the final wash out at home, I get a really good clean out.

(don't mix dawn soap and bleach, however)

Not much help, but...

Not much help, but I could loan you my ex-wife, who could smell a popcorn fart in hurricane winds. SHE could find the source.

I have MUCH less problem with strange odors nowadays when I travel alone.

I am sitting here in my house on the beach in Florida in the middle of 80 mph winds from Irma and you gave me a laugh thanks
