Clark:

I am assuming the Banks System you mentioned somehow increases horsepower or torque. If the manufacturer thought that more horsepower ot torque was necessary or good they could easily have done so at maufacture. I have an older ('95) Dynasty and everything imaginable was included, by Monaco, at great expense.

I have 4 diesel engines and I don't attempt to modify anything. The 5.9 L Cummins in my truck only produces 185 HP. The same engine in marine applications can easily triple that HP. My transmission though wouldn't take the strain.

Everyone I know who has added a chip or a power enhancing system has had transmission problems.

Are you sure it is a 370 hp ISC? I thought the 2001 ISC only went up to 350 hp.

We have the ISC 330 from that era ('04 Monaco Beaver) which has the FULL Banks kit. We did not have it installed as this was done by the original owner. The kit puts the present HP in the 440 neighborhood.
We've done the Yellowstone thing and when others were cooling off at the side of the road, we were still doing 50+ mph up the hill. Acceleration is great from a stop or highway passing. It will be at 75 mph right now which is scary to us 60-65 mph drivers.
Gas mileage is 8 +/- .3 (7.7 to 8.3).
Sorry we can't speak to former performance but we're impressed!

Norm4015 it is a 370hp ISC Cummins,.........was $7,700.00 ugrade option according to buildsheet. I think alot were the 350hp, but even in the NADA guide listing, it gives numerous models with the 370hp ISC. Thanks for the post. Clarke

I have a build sheet for a 2001 Dynasty Jack that lists the 350 ISC as the standard engine and the 370 ISL as the optional ($7700 upgrade). So maybe you mean ISL? If so, Banks does not have a kit for the ISL. However, I believe Cummins can do an 'uprate' on the 370 ISL to 400hp. It might be worth a call to Cummins if you haven't already checked with them.

Thanks tankcj. My engine is the ISC, says so on the engine & buildsheet. The $7,700 upgrade was the tag axle and the 370hp ISC. (uprated from the 350hp). Thanks for the response. Clarke

Clarke Cummins did not make a 370 ISC that upgrade in 01 was to A ISL, if your build sheet says that it is a 370 ISC it is a error. I think you might be able to get Cummins to reprogram the computer to 400 hp a lot cheaper than Banks, give Cummins a call.

If you have a MD3060 in your Monaco and I am pretty sure you do you could easily chip to 400 hp with a problem but on your pre computer engine you would need to change the fuel plate. I chiped our 99 dip from 275 to over 330 hp without a problem just lots more power and better fuel milage also have a friend with a 94 Dynasty with a 300hp 8.3 that has been running around 400hp for about 8 yrs with the MD3060 with a fuel plate change.

I must apologize to Norm4015, tankcj and Walt2137...................You guys were right! This engine IS a 370hp ISL (not ISC, as previously posted). Sorry for all the confusion on MY part!! Answers that question re: Banks,..........Call Cummins and see if it (ISL) can be uprated. Thanks to all who replied, I'll try to not make such foolish errors in the future. Please forgive me..................................Clarke

Hi Walt,

We also have a 99 Dip with the 275hp and have been interesetd in chips for an HP upgrade. We have a trip planned in the near future with a few steep inclines and have been concerned with the lower hp engine and a toad. Can you share with me which chip vendor you used and the approx. cost.

Thank You,

Greg W.
