Does anyone know if the chassis batteries are charged when plugged into shore power on an 2003 Holiday Rambler Endeavor?

Hi wolf1281,

I do not know your specific coach. However, there is an easy way to determine what you want to know. With the coach plugged into shore power, take a VDC reading across the chassis Battery(s). Then take a VDC reading across the coach batteries. They will be the same if the chassis battery(s) are being charged.

Around 12.6 VDC across the chassis batteries and 13.5+ across the coach batteries tells you the chassis battery is not being charged.

This test is a pretty good indicator. It is not the absolute final answer. For the absolute final answer one would need to know how the coach is wired and what method may be used to charge the chassis batteries.

Gary is right. One other point. All of the methods (BIRD, Xantrex Echo Charger) need the house batteries to be pretty much fully charged before they divert any charge to the chassis batteries. So don't bother checking the batteries until the coach has been plugged in for several hours, just to ensure the house batteries are charged enough.

Same as GaryKD stated, Same thing goes for chassis to house batteries from the alternator while going down the road.
