I am having trouble understanding something. If most of the coaches are getting more electonic..ie. inverter/chargers..tv programming..echo-chargers...aladdin systems ...radio/stereo/cd player..etc etc. What good are they if we have to reprogram everything if we turn the battery switch off in the doorway of our coaches when we leave for the day?? Or is this only the case when we dry camp....I just don't get it..We have all the new technology but we switch it off everytime we turn off our battery power..

Hope someone out there can set me straight..

Why do you turn off the power for the day?? All that stuff will survive on batts for the day (several actually) if they are in good shape. Lots of folks have that switch disconnected btw, it is a weak spot in the system.

There is no need to disconnect the power every time you are away. If you are hooked up to power the batteries will be charged. Most items retain settings in the memory. Radios often do not. As the previous poster mentioned your batteries will not go dead in one day.

TEDDE.....I've had my coach almost six years and have only turned that switch (sometimes called a salesman switch becaus ethe salesman can turn the coach on or off while it's being shown) off once or twice by accident.

You should leave it alone unless you had some type of emergency where you need to shut the electrical down or when you store the coach. We're lucky enough to keep the coach at the house so it's always connected to pwoer and that switch is never turned off.

The relay in ours failed last year so I simply wired around it. If I need to kill the DC to the coach I use the switch in the aft electrical panel or pull a lead off the batts. OBTW, that switch failed too!! Did an emergency wire around but replaced it later.

Two additional comments:
1. That "new technology" you mention also allows most electronics to "remember" settings when power is off (think computer).
2. Neither battery switch disconnects 100% of the battery power from the MH. Note smaller red (B+) wires coming from the positive battery terminals that do not go to the off/on switches.
