Even though I'm hooked up to 50 amp shore power, the indicator lights on control pannel go down to one or 2 lights when water pump goes on. Is this normal?

What control panel is this? What do the lights indicate? Have you checked that your charger/inverter is turned on and functioning correctly?

I'd bet you're talking about the tank-level indicator lights on your control panel.?.

On my rig, the water pump running will cause some dimming of the 12VDC bathroom lights. I chalk this up to Ohm's law: Attempt to pass more current through a particular wire (which has a certain resistance in it), then a corresponding voltage-drop will occur across that wire. This voltage drop my be driving the lights on your control panel nuts. Then again, maybe not!

Get a digital multimeter and measure the house battery voltage. Only way you will know for sure.
