They told me that they have sold their parts inventory back to Monaco. I called Monaco and they do have the 3000RV in stock now, at a cost of $326.00 plus shipping. I big difference from the $119 I paid for it thru Mega RV parts last yr. Having replaced this heater for the third time, I recommend the solution of using/installing a third party product.

How do you turn on the heater?
I have a 2004 Diplomat that I recently purchased and I can't find a switch to turn it on. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Mfire1339,
The heater is 120v but the control circuit that arms it is 12v dc and operates a relay internal to the heater that enables it to run on the 120v supply thru the snap disc.

Monaco did not install the same system in every coach so it depends on what they did on yours. However, here is how they put in my system so you can check to see if yours is the same. I did toss the OEM bay heater out as it was disconnected and totally rusted from having water accidents in the service bay by the previous owners. However, I am currently installing a different system.
My OEM bay heater sits in the service bay and is plugged into a HD 12 VDC wire. There is also a Snap Disc in the service bay hidden behind a panel, which is set to a certain temperature that will turn the bay heater on & off. However, the main switch has to be turned on first. My main switch is located in an overhead compartment just behind the co-pilots chair. It happens to be labeled "System Heat". There is a lighted switch and an adjacent red indicator light. Neither of those will be lit until the snap disc is tripped and calls for 12 VDC power to the bay heater. Monaco had mis-wired that setup too but I haven't had time to re-wire it correctly.
I want the lighted switch to light up when I turn the switch on but then only have the indicator light come on when the bay heater is actually on and working.

Interesting information.....thanks all. We have a 2002 Monaco Diplomat. When I turn on the "System Heat" it lights up but the active indicator does not light. Does this have anything to do with the Snap Disk. Thanks

Indicator light, if it is working, will only light when heater is active. To check mine, I used an ice cube on the disk to see if light was working. when it cooled down heater started and light came on at inside panel. Good luck.

Hi Rebel. Last night was 27 degrees so we didn't need to use the ice cube trick ;-) still the indicator light won't come on. We're on the road starting tomorrow and will check these posts again for more ideas....perhaps it's a fuse, thanks for your help.

If it is 27 outside it may not be cold enough inside the water bay to trip the snap disk. If it was 27 inside the water bay then you definitely have a problem.

I read a thread on this subject on another forum and they said to google back seat heaters. These are installed in Jeeps and are 12 volt.

Good call on the Jeep heater, seems compact and at 300w should be adequate and use existing 30A wiring. May need an extra relay to incorporate the temp switch.
Price is definitely right ($89.00) compared to one from Monaco.
Seems that the Volvo people now operating Monaco have very little concern for the customers of the past, beyond ripping them off on the old parts.

My Cargo Bay heater blows cold air only. I removed it from the bay and checked it with a 12 volt source....it blew hot air. I thought I had a loose connection in the bay so I re-installed the heater and made sure everything was tight. It didn't help. Last night it turned on and blew cold air only again. I called Monaco tech support and described the problem. The said it was a bad snap fuse. A failed snap fuse can turn on the heater but not turn on the element. I ordered a new fuse for 26 bucks.

I bought 2 snap discs from Mega RV Parts in Jan. 2010 for $13.33 ea.
Not sure if your hook up is the same as mine but the snap switch controls the entire heater including the fan & heating element. The switch is nom. open and is set to close between 35 and 40 degrees to let 12 volt power continue on to the heater. I don't believe that the snap switch has anything to do with the heater element not coming on if the fan runs when you have 12 volts going to it. You have a newer coach then mine so maybe Monaco made some changes during that time to just switch the heating element, not sure.
I am sure that you know that you can test the snap switch by holding ice cubes against it to lower the temp. so that it will close.

On our 04 Imperial the blower comes on no matter the temp whenever the system heat switch is on. The lite has only come on a couple of times in memory. The last time was in Deming NM when the temp dropped to around 20 overnite. The Aladdin indicated that the bay temp was 45 in the bay. Mine also has something called a bay heat exchanger which I suspect is part of the AquaHot.
We have had one casualty due to low temps, the Norcold icemaker solenoid froze and popped due to no heat being introduced into that area no matter what precautions I had taken. I'd suggest that folks use a light bulb in ther to protect their icemaker sols. Since I got rid of the Norcold and installed a Samsung refer I've sealed the compartment from the outside air and there is now no chance of freezing in there unless the heat in the coach fails altogether.
