I contacted Beaudry Rv yesterday by email to have my Norcold 1200 LRIM serviced under the recall notice put out by Norcold/Thetford.
I just received a call back from their Tucson facility (Martha) inquiring as to what I needed in the way of service. I explained that I was wanting to set up an appointment with their facility in Chandler, Az. which is really close to where we live while the Tucson facility would be a 200+ mile roundtrip. She wanted to know if I originally had bought the coach from Beaudry RV. If I had they would be more than glad to try to work me into their schedule. If I had not bought the coach from then there would not be anything they could help me with. She stated that due to "economic conditions" and cut backs they could not help at their Phoenix/Chandler facility.
Beaudry Rv just emerged from bankruptcy within the last few months. It appears to me that with their business attitude they are more than willing to accept your mega bucks purchase of a new coach and the service that will go
with it, but if you do not buy it from them you are on your own!
There are numerous RV facilities in the Phoenix area that are looking for work, even with the influx of winter visitors. We have been very happy with the Monaco coach that we presently own and have considered replacing it with a new coach. With the attitude that Beaudry presented this am I would never purchase a coach, nor consider taking anything to them for any kind of service.
If it is just me folks give me some feedback, as I am always listen to the voice of reason!

Thats a pretty poor way to treat people and then expect them to come in and do business or buy a new motorhome from them.

I have heard the same attitude expressed by Beaudry from many others. Doesn't seem to be very good for getting new business.

UP IN FLAMES...My 2003 Monaco Camelot when up in flames 12-12-09!! At 7am I smelled burning wiring, then popping and then what sounded like a blower. Flames were shooting out the refer vent 2 to 3 feet above the roof. The whole inside was gone with fire, heat, smoke and water from the fire dept.
YES!!! THIS COULD BE LIFE THREATING!! NorCold must recognize this issue as well as any local dealer.

If they are an authorized Norcold service center refusing to take care of the recall then I would think a call to Norcold is in order. If you have a recalled Norcold it should not matter if it is installed in a covered wagon, a Norcold service center will be paid by Norcold for the recall service. I would call Beaurdy back and tell them that if you have a fire in your coach before you can get the recall done, there name is the first one your lawyer gets on the suite.

As an update I received the following response from Beaudry RV this morning. As I have the coach stored one mile from their Chandler facility I declined there offer to bring it 200+ miles to have it serviced. Sorry this is so long; In all fairness I wanted the forum members to know that at least they were reactive!
Mr. Hopkins,
We always have and always will service any and every customer regardless
of whether they purchased from us. The issue here is the schedule in
Phoenix. As we a have a short staff, the schedule is very tight and
we'd much prefer to have you visit Tucson. I'd be happy to have you as
our guest and I could offer you a free stay here at our facility for the
night. Is that something that would interest you?
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Scott Beaudry
Good Morning, Scott
I appreciate your response to my issue. I contacted
Thetford/Norcold yesterday afternoon. They directed
me to La Mesa Rv who ordered the update kit and
scheduled me to bring in the coach for the update.
I was appalled that your service personnel would
query me as to where I originally purchased the
coach! I realize that Monaco Corporation, that was
in operation at the time of manufacture is defunct
and left all owners out on there own. With the takeover
of assets by Navistar the new Monaco should be a
viable business enterprise. I digress though.
Your company is the first business entity that I have
ever had experience with that would query you as to where
I purchased the product as a prerequisite to service
an accessory on recall from the original manufacturer.
I was not asking for immediate service only to wait my
place in line for the update/recall.
I appreciate your offer of overnight accommodations in Tucson
and working me into your shop schedule. I will decline
as I see no valid reason to drive 200+ miles when I can
have the coach serviced locally.
We own two retail establishments that require great attention
to customer service and attention to detail. If one of our
employees asked a customer if they purchased the product from us as
a prerequisite to service, I can assure you that they would
be updating their resume, even if I had to perform the service
myself. Martha stated that due to "economic conditions" and
"staff shortage" they could not do anything for me, but would
gladly help me out in Tucson. The distance is a factor and
it really is a Thetford/Norcold recall problem.
I realize you need to operate your business in the most cost
effective manner, but in my opinion (and only mine) your
personnel mishandled this request. I chose to vote with my
feet and my dollars and your company failed that test!
Once again thanks for your your response and I wish you
well as you rebuild your dealership.

Thanks for sharing...I agree with you on this one...I suspect Beaudry will feel the repercussions of this for a long time. Word of mouth is alive and well in RV circles.

Beaudry has had a bad reputation for any kind of service ...auto or RV ...for a long, long time. Apparently, going through bankruptcy didn't teach them a thing!!
Anytime you need service I recommend you check www.rvservicereviews.com to get some idea of what to expect at various service locations wherever you are. And when you have service done, add you experience to the database.

Can anyone tell me if they want to do business with a company that changes their ways only after something negative has been posted for thousands to see??
