Can someone tell me where the slide out motors are for the rear slide-outs on a Beaver Contessa Westport? Also, what is required to remove the panels where they are? Finally, are there any routine maintenance things that I should be doing on the slide-out mechanisms?

One rear slide out stops moving when it reaches all the way in or out. The other keeps trying to move with a gear slipping sound. I'm assuming there's automatic stop adjustments that I can make.

Thanks,

Gil

Gil, that gear slipping sound may be like mine. I have a jack screw type motor under the bed slide. I have to lift up the bed to access it. The gear slipping is the internal clutch on the drive and that is the way it is supposed to work.

There is no maintenance required of the motors but the slide gears that are exposed and the track need dry type lubrication from time to time. Also make sure the bolts holding the motors and their gear boxes are tight. They tend to work loose.

Thanks Rex. I thought both rear slides-outs were cable. You could certainly be right. I'll check next weekend.

Gil, could be but I have never heard of a cable type having the slipping noise. The cable systems are known to have problems with the cable braking, and coming off pulleys. If you ever have a cable brake, don't pull it out. You will need to use it to pull the new cable through the system.
