I just replaced my blue ox tow bar after 50K miles. It was working fine. I just figured, why push my luck.

Why didn't you have your old one serviced by Blue Ox? I only have about 8 to 10K on mine but I paid the $30 at the Winnebago GNR to have it serviced. They replaced all the nylon washers, cleaned and lubed the tubes and replaced the bolts if I believe. My bar is the steel model, not the aluminum. I see this bar being in service for a very long time.

For those interested that don't make it to rallies that might offer that service, Blue Ox does offer that rebuild kit, with washers, bolts and lock nuts, in a very inexpensive kit. There's nothing real high tech about installing the kit. I would put it well within a DIY'ers skill range. If you're doing the majority of your maintenance already, and are comfortable with the idea of doing a comprehensive inspection, I say go for it.
