Broken Window

Over the holiday weekend someone decided they didn't have enough gifts and decided they needed to take from others more blessed than they.

In their attempt to take from us they broke one of the bedroom windows(outside glass only of the dbl pane).

Fortunately they did not get inside the MH and take anything or destroy anything(other than window) but I do have a window that now has to be replaced and is not enough to get the insurance pay for it.

They did however get into several other campers and vehicles.

What is a good resource for a partial replacement glass in or near Nashville TN?

Thanks and happy holidays,

There are several places around the country that specialize in fixing dual pane windows in MH's quite a few of which go bad each year. You don't say where you are located but one that I know of is:

Keep in mind that any glass replaced MUST be tempered prior to use. This process may slow down the replacement by a day or two.

I had a stone from a mower break one of mine the same way, only the outside glass. I’m in AZ and had it replaced by an RV glass company in Lake Havsue. Didn’t file a claim till I got the price, there not cheap to fix and took 2 weeks. Good luck

I have never broken a dual glazed window on the coach. Can/will they just replace the 1 pane of a dual pane window?

Most glass companies for a stick house insists on replacing both panes even if one is untouched.

Depending on the window manufacturer, residential window often use "sealed" insulated glass assemblies which have to be replaced as a unit. OTOH, some brands, Pella for one, use separate panes of glass which can be individually replaced.

It's my understanding that many (most?) RV dual pane windows consist of separate panes of glass. There may be sealed units in some models, but I'm not familiar with them.

Dual pane insulated RV windows, unlike house windows, do not contain an inert gas. The RV versions are 2 pieces of glass separated by a spacer with desiccant, and sealed together with a special glass sealer. These panes can be separated (the sealer is cut) and the broken pane replaced. The trick is finding a shop to do it.
