Am presently installing a Winegard Traveler 1000 in a 2008 Holiday Rambler Vacationer XL 38 PLT. This configuration is a front door entry like the Holiday Rambler diesels.

Has anyone been successful in routing a power cable for the satellite dish? There is a pre-wire for the RG6 feeds which is above the forward most overhead light. I have found these and have drilled thru the roof for entry and have routed the power in the same hole. All is going well so far. Now I have run into a dead end on how to route the power to the dish without drilling another hole further towards the front.

Any input would be appreciated from those who may have done this.

Best Regards

Lash....Monaco installs a power lead along with the RG6 cable. You might be able to use that power lead to pull the controller lead of the Winegard through, but the head on the controller lead may get hung up. On mine, there was already a hole drilled through the front cap for the previous satellite unit. I reused the old hole. If you go this route, use some cable clamps to secure the cable to the roof and then put sealant over the clamps.

Since my satellite was next to my old crank up antenna, I tapped into the wire that gives you a warning light on your dash that the antenna is up. I ran the wire over to the sat dish and connected a magnetic read switch to the antenna and a bracket I made. Now my dash indicator lights up when the antenna is left up. Winegard also sells a kit that will automatically stow the antenna if you start the coach.

Don:

Appreciate the feedback and I like the idea of tapping the crankup for status.

After exploring all possibilities, I have decided to route the power lead over the drivers side overhead cabinets and drill the hole down thru the roof. At the same time, I will install a Terk Marine XM antenna and use the feed down for the antenna feed also. Winegard makes a double feed cable entry cap CE2000 which I found on the internet.

Also thanks for the heads up on cable clamps. Will do also.

I did find the yellow lead with the RG6 which I am assuming is 12V power. Will leave it coiled in the overhead also.

Once again, I value all the inputs and great info you provide to this forum.

Best Regards

Ron LaRue
