CADET Software For Monaco Multiplex Chassis

Hello, All!

I finally found where one can buy the CADET Software from Kongsberg Automotive. The price, however, is $600 + the cost of the USB2CAN harness.

So, my question: Is it worth it, for what it does?

it would probably be a one time use for you - and it might just tell you that you have a bad board or other such component and need to replace the multiplexer controller anyways.

So I would not buy it - I would look at the cost of a new multiplexer or cost to switch to something else. Other wise you may be doing that anyways plus be out the $600 +.

I forget all the details behind this (I believe your smart wheel is not working) - and there are no replacement controllers available anymore. Did you check the salvage yards like VisionRV? There must be some wreaked 2008 Signatures or Executives with this part.

Buy it, use it and then rent it to other users. As you know I needed it to fix a chain on my multiplex. It is also used to program the multiplex switches which are still available. The other option is to drive hundreds of miles to a shop with the software, which we have found out are far and few between. The chain that stopped working for me needed a new master and expansion switch and they both had to be reprogramed. A complete replacement for the Kongsberg would run into the thousands, many thousands. The last CCM that I heard of went for around $20k. Cummins wanted $4k just to work around one function of one of the expansion module switches. It's a gamble, but most likely your CCM is still good, but those switches can go bad at any time. If you would please pass along the info on where to buy the CADET. I spent more than that on diesel and hotel rooms to get mine fixed.

Thanks for the input. You have some good points and I, as many others , would like to hear from people like yourself, that have needed and used the software. I agree, in that if it can fix one issue, it would definitely be worth it.

I understand CADET doesn't have a user manual and has not been updated for 11+ years. If you have used it, how easy/hard is it for a non-tech individual to use it?

The other issue is that it interacts only with non-engine and ATM, multiplex issues. Is this your experience?

Kongsberg price is for dealers only. I think if they price it reasonably, and promote it, they will sell more copies. Sent you a PM.

Ask them if they offer a discount to Educational users (Students, Teachers).
I bought the PE Micro Link (normally selling around $500) for $100 through their Educators discount program. Similar to Microsoft's discounted software for educators.

If they do, maybe I can help you save some money.

It is my impression that the people working there would care if they sold none.
You would think for something that they don't do anything to maintain, or offer tech support, that they should cash in on selling as many copies as people would buy. But, sadly, that is not the case. I'm really tempted to buy it it, while it is available for sale.

Regards,

CADET software - Beaver and Monaco

Found this thread. I am also in need of help diagnosing multiplex issues. My issue is no headlights along with other switches not working but headlights being a big issue. I do have daytime running lights.

Any help, including buying the software and connection cables, would be appreciated. I've shut all power off and restarted all electronics but the problem came back.

Does anyone have some diagnosing steps I could use? I have a 2009 Beaver Marquis. It has 2 sets of 3 toggle switches on driver left panel and another 2 sets of 3 toggle switches on the passenger entry post.

3 switches of the 12 total do work.

Thanks in advance, Bob...

I have a 2009 Dynasty. Kongsberg roadside chassis multiplex. The folks at the REV tech center in Coburg, OR fixed mine. I had two bad switches. If your system is like mine the switches a chained with a master in the first position. The switches are still available and cheap compared to everything else, and the techs in Coburg are pretty good. I think my cost to get my system fixed was under $300 total. My engine brake, foot pedals, window shades, mirrors and few other things quit working. It all works now. Good luck.
