Camelot 08 Entry door handle

The handle to open the entry door continues to get more difficult to pull open. My wife can hardly get it open. I tried silicone lube in every orifice with no help. Do I need to take the door apart to lube or repair. The inside handle works fine. It must be the linkage outer handle and the opening mechanism. Anyone have this problem? Any ideas?

I have an 08 Camelot PDQ but I don't have the problem you describe with the handle..... HOWEVER, I did have the problem with my 06 Knight and that is exactly how I dealt with it, took the trim off on the inside to access the latch mechanism and lubed it up with a silicone based grease. As I recall, there was also a rod in there that was tight and rubbing and I bent it out a bit to increase the clearance. At the same time, since I had it apart, I repainted it because the prior owner had scratched it up pretty bad.

I also had a problem on that coach with the deadbolt lock..... it simply did not work. So while the door was apart, I fished out the parts. Somehow, it had come apart and dropped some of the parts down inside the door. I managed to locate them all and fish them out so that the lock could be reassembled. After that, it worked real well.

Bob....No need to take the door apart. Take WD40 or another spray lubricant that you like and spray it (with the starw attached) into the handle assembly on the inside, outside and the upper and lower door latches. Spray it liberally so that it runs out. When you're done clean it up with a spray cleaner. I like using Pledge for this. The door will be like new for about a year.

Well, after spraying LOTS of silicone lube, adjusting the latch posts, checking the linkages for smooth opertion (no problem found), Adjusting the actuator arm length to reduce the amount of throw required and removing weather strips that obstructed the screen door hindge, my wife can finally open the door. It still requires a yank to get it open. When the latch finally releases from the posts the door pops open. I think I may have to adjust the hinges to reduce the pressure of the door against the frame at the hinge side. Has anyone made such adjustments?

Bob, make sure both locking pins on the door frame are tight. They should move up and down with a little force, but not front to back. Yes they will move when the bolt is tight. Loose pins is one of the problems with the door being hard to open, especially when the handle does unlock it.

Both of the pins are tight. It's hard to imagine they can move up and down as tight as they are.

The door seems to be working better this morning. Maybe some of the lube I sprayed around is sinking in.

I've spent an inordinate amount of time adjusting striker posts, hinges and clearances on my door too. After doing all the adjustments and getting lubricant in the right places, it works easily now and no wind noise, even at 125 MPH .

I'm still getting wind noise at anything over 80 what am I doing wrong??

I think the one thing that made the most difference was removing some of the rubber strip that was inhibiting the screen door from closing all the way. There are 2 holes on the door frame where the nuts holding the screen door hinges insert when closed. The rubber strip was covering those holes creating excess outword pressure on the doors when closed. No amount of adjustment could overcome this problem. I guess this was an oversite during assembly of the coach (among others).
