I have a 2009 Camalot and I don't see where there is a CB install kit on my spec sheet, but there is a CB antenna mounted on the roof. Does that mean it is pre wired for a CB?
Thanks,
PR

Hi, I have an07 Camelot and the wire for the cb ant. is somewhere up under the dash behind or along side the radio. I had a hard time finding mine. Then found out that I had to install an outside self grounding ant. to get any kind of use from my cb. Hope this helps.

Denny,
So the antenna that is mounted on the roof from the factory has to be replaced? It looks like an ugley stick that the truckers use, but it doesn't work well? Bummer!
Thanks,

Hi, again. I just left the ant. on the roof in the down position. The new ant. is mounted on the drivers side post just behind the windshield. Its own wire goes down the post and then under the dash to your radio. This worked very well for me and the radio operation is much better

I finally found my CB antenna coax tucked up under the transmission shift pad/leveling jacks control panels. It can be accessed by removing the 4 screws and panel along the driver's seat.

I found the coax cable under the shift console. Thanks
Has anyone had any luck with the factory installed antenna?
Is there a meter you can attach to the coax cable to see what the signal value is before you go to the trouble of adding another antanna. Seems like a waste if the factory one is already there.
Thanks,
PR

PR, I'm fooling around with a similar problem, though my factory antenna is long gone. The coax and power are still there, however.
There is a meter that will measure how well your antenna and transmitter are matched once they are connected. It's a standing wave ratio (SWR) meter and it is used to adjust the transmitter and antenna to achieve optimum efficiency. Some CB's have them as an integral part of the radio.
Since your antenna is already there you've not much to lose by installing a CB and seeing how it works. There may be an adjustment screw on the antenna that will allow you to tune for the ideal (smallest) SWR. If it turns out poorly, a new antenna can always be installed as suggested above.
I've purchased a 2 foot, Firestik II antenna but have to modify the roof mount and put a different end on the coax to hook it up. I've got the mount done but still must solder the connector onto the coax.
Good luck and let us know what you wind up doing.
Dave
