The LP tank on my 1990 Monaco Crown Royale has stopped receiving LP. I have searched WWW for salvage yards, checked local RV dealers with no luck. Does anyone have any idea as to where I might be able to find a replacement LP tank for my unit.

Yes, it is in an allocated space area. That area is roughly 36" wide, 30" deep. My tank has side controls and not end ones. It is mounted on my basement floor, not hung.

The Mfg. company of the tank has been bought by Manchester Tank. They no-longer make my tank spec's.

Remove the tank, take it to a propane service dealer and have a new valve installed. They may have to order a replacement valve, but that should be cheaper than replacing the tank. Hope this helps.

I have taken the filler valve out, taken it to a local RV dealer Basden American RV Center, Evansville Indiana RV Dealer - Sales, Service, Parts and they said no way, that is an obsolete item.

I have contacted online, a site out of LA who say that they have the part that I need after I sent pictures of such, which I did.

He suggested taking apart the item that I enclosed a picture of [the filler valve - back flow preventer] , which I tried with no success.

I believe the problem is that all were required to switch to an auto shutoff valve which is called an OPD Valve. Your tank does have an overfill protection device (OPD) inside the tank which could be termed an "auto shutoff" from the perspective of filling the tank, but it would take some thorough testing to know if it was bad. That would be a rare failure in any case. Replacement, if needed, is best done by a trained LP professional at an LP gas shop (not an RV dealer). The OPD stops the filling process at approximately the 80% level, which is the "safe" fill point mandated by the National Fire Code (NFP). I believe your old type valve will no longer work on the new fillers so that is why it appears bad. Call PPLMotorhomes because they have all the valves and tanks needed. If yours is a screw in valve then no problem

OnJa, I would try a local propane/service dealer. Most RV shop parts people do not know squat about parts, they want to sell end items. Also on tanks above 40 lbs they have had built in Over fill protection for years. I am sure that any good propane store can help you. Go in and ask for the old guy, he can help you.

First get a propane dealer to replace the valve. If you have to replace the tank, loo at DOT Tanks Propane Tanks Compressed Air Tanks ASME Grill Manufacturer

OP infers his is a 1990 tank. OPDs were not required until 2002.
Sounds like a jammed backflow valve as his tank was made way prior to OPD.

Another issue is the certification date...
As of roughly 2002 as well, the NFPA regs state that DOT tanks may only be used for 12 years after the manufacturing date (which is stamped on the tank). Technically, anyone attempting to fill an outdated tank is not playing by the rules. Looks like you'll also need to have it re-certified by your local LP company.

The local LP company should be able to replace the hardware, possibly add OPD, and re-cert the tank.

I am certified in Texas and I would refuse to fill as it is out of date. Most people would fill but it would be against the law if caught. It is also dangerous.

You guys are referring to DOT containers. The OP described an ASME container. ASME containers do not require re-certification.

It sounds like the 80% valve has broken. You have a frame mounted tank. It has a 80% shutoff valve. These do go bad. If they go bad, you can't add propane. I have changed a few of these. Any motorhome dealer should change this for you. Just change the fill valve, do not replace the tank. Frame tanks DO NOT have to be recertified.

Onja......I'm willing to bet that even if you found the necessary parts, you wouldn't be able to remove any fittings that are inserted into the tank. They end up welding themselves on after all of these years.

You say the space is 36" wide x 30" deep. It sounds to me like you could find a new ASME tank that lays on its side and will fit your your space. I would concentrate my efforts there. Depending on the height, you could even put in a couple of stand up tanks. Moving the plumbing would be a lot easier job than trying to find an identical tank.
