Carefree Electric Awning

We have a C of C Eclipse electric awning on our motor home. I have a very corroded connector high up on the outside wall just forward of the actual awning. The motor control wires pass through this connector.

We've spent the winter three times in Victoria, BC right beside the ocean; salt air. This connector has become so dirty that I cannot keep it working more than a few days after spraying with contact cleaner. I've tried several brands.

I'm thinking of simply eliminating this connector by hard wiring these wires. The connector is no longer available from C of C, and they are too "Carefree" to make any valid suggestions to correct the problem.

Has anyone else had a similar problem and how did you solve it?

Try the butt (splice) connectors that you crimp then use lighter to heat shrink around connection. It is then water tight and should end your problem. You will lose being able to disconnect them but I do not see that as a problem.
