Hi,

When I bought my Cayman 2009 last July, the previous owner had replace the patio awning by a cheap manual one. I decided to bring the coach back to original and ordered the original electric awning from Camping World. I had good service from Sheldon, he was very helpful but I can't say the same from Carefree.

I had all kind of trouble trying to get the same color as the others on the MH. Of course, they told me that the color on the Web were the exact color I would receive but...when I received it, the navy blue turned out to be sky blue. I could live with the color but my major concern is that the fabric has a seam in the middle of the awning. I was never told that brand new awning (17') are coming in two pieces sewn together.

I was told by Carefree that all Carefree Acrylic fabric awning are coming like that. I've had a few motorhomes with awning before and never had a two piece awning,

My question is: Does your patio awning have a seam in the middle?

Thanks.

No, ours is an A&E 21' long and no seams, it's the acrylic (fabric one) not the vinyl.

Thanks Mr_D,

I had an A&E on my previous Aerbus and it was one piece too. Carefree told me that If I want a one piece, I should have taken the vinyl awning...

We have 2006 Diplomat with the Carefree electric awning and I think it is 20 feet long. No seam in the middle. I have seen many post that indicate Carefree is not customer friendly. I have also had to re-sew the seams on two of my slide toppers because Carefree did not use UV resistant thread.

I just opened my awning on my 2006 Diplomat and it does have a horizontal seam.

06 Endeavor, and it does have a horizontal (ie, going from front to back) seam.

Side Rant: CareLess (I mean Carefree... no I don't.. really) is definitely on my list of "not friendly" mfgrs. Noticed several of the stitchings start to come unraveled just after warranty ran out (like by 2 months). Call to Careless and they said "outta warranty, outta Luck". I even kept the voicemail that said that. Sighhh...

Most of my 5 year old Girard awnings with Sunbrella fabric - the toppers, windows, and mains (a 20ft and a 16ft) - all have 1 or more seams perpendicular to the awning. There are no seams parallel to the awnings.

Our Carefree One-Touch has the "two piece" fabric. We also had to have the slide toppers replaced due to rotting thread. It actually pulled out of the mounting track!!

Thanks to everybody who posted. It really looks like I'll have to live with the seam but I'll go at the fact that it's not mentioned anywhere on the web site that you'll get a seam. I'll see what they say??? And I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

Thanks again.
