I found several threads of the repair of the Carefree over door Marquis awning. A vague description in one of using a pulley to fabricate a new drive head. Here are the pictures of how it looks. Went together really easy. Only out about $8 instead of $100-$150 for a new motor. in my case the motor still worked, it just destroyed the drive gear assembly.
2" pulley sheave with 1/2" arbor. I ground down the remaining 'fins' or gear teeth so that the pulley fit over the shaft. Drill a small hole to accept the set screw (I got another set screw slightly longer than the one that came with the pulley).
Then took a round bastard file and files the notches in the side to fit the inside of the aluminum tube.
The most tedious part was re-setting he limits on the motor.
I also took the time to look at my main awning for possible stripping of that hub. Darned glad I did! It was nearly stripped. It now has the roll pin repair installed!
