Hi everybody,
I bought a 09 Cayman 38PBD a couple of months ago and yes I have the famous RR4R chassis. Although I was informed my Cayman was not on a recall list and even after checking for cracks on the arms, I decided to get a shop to weld 1/2" plates on each side of the arms. I'll check how it behaves but it should be better than it was.
I made quite a few improvement like changing the very bad shocks with Bilstein and putting an anti-rust paint on everything I see underneath. I'm really hoping to keep the rig for a long time.
I also fixed many minor things but my question is about the ride height of the motorhome. When I got it I found the rear to be lower than the front. I also notice the rear diff was very close to the bump stops. I lifted the rear suspension to be equal to the front but I'm not sure if it's the proper height. Does anybody have the specs for it???
BTW, the ride is very good (Compared to when I received it!). Of course, it's not a marshmallow ride but I prefer when the rig goes where I want it to go!
Thanks in advance.

The ride height spec may be in your manual if you have one. It's usually listed where the air bag adjustment section is. If now, call Monaco and they will give you the spec. Others with your model may chime in.

The driveshaft on a DP is very short, if the ride height is set wrong it can quickly destroy the transmission rear seal or the U-joints. Even not lubing the slip joint often enough can take out the rear seal.

This is for my 08 Cayman XL 38PBD
Ride Height
Measure in between top and bottom airbag plates.
6 15/16 in the front
8 ½ in the rear
It is easiest to make a measuring tool out of a coat hanger shaped like a big C set the hanger to the correct distance then check the measurement.

FYI CAYMAN 09: I also have a 09 Cayman bought it a year ago with 11000 miles on it; the previous owner ignored the recall on the trailing arms and when I inspected the coach discovered cracks on one.
Keep an eye on your repair job because even the "factory" replacement arms had problems.
My arms were replaced with the Source Engineeering upgraded arms, but the ride was terrible when compared to my 96 executive so I upgraded the chassis with the Source Engineering Ride Enhancement Kit #203 and it made a world of difference. We now have a ride that is almost the quality of the old Exec.

Hi Bob,
thanks and I'll check the repairs. I'm also looking at the REK but it says that it has to be installed on Source arms. I already have welded arms and Bilsteins shocks.....So I wonder if Jim will sell the balloons and tank seperately....I'll see.
I'm interested in their replacement fan too!

I just came back from a trip and was able to check the height. It sits at
7'' in front and 9'' at the back.
It might be too high??? but if I lower the rear then the MH is noise high...

I would call Monaco to find out what the ride height spec is for your year and model. It could have changed in 2009 and not be the same a 2008.

I also did the replacment fan and it exceeded my expectations regarding noise and power without increasing temp. I did not install it.
