Cayman rear trailing arms

In the FMCA Nov. Issue there is an article on pg. 65 regarding the possibility of the trailing arms breaking and the subsequent danger of not being able to handle the coach and rolling over. Since reading this I have been in contact with a 2008 and 2009 owner who had this happen. I called Monaco and they advised that my coach (2007) has the same trailing arms, and they are noo longer responsible. The original recall (NHTSA 05V053000) involved 2002-2005 coaches of various models with the R4R and RR4R chassis. To have the same trailing arms installed on a 2007, 2008 and 2009 almost borders on criminal negligence. The fix is an after market set of trailing arms at a cost of $2000.00 plus approximately 10 hours of labor; so figure on close to $2800-3000. I would highly recommend that you check your rear trailing arms for any sign of metal fatigue or cracking. The fact that Monaco went belly-up doesn't absolve negligence and perhaps knowingly endangering lives.
