Changing out the shower control valve to a Moen

A friend recently ask me about changing out the touchy shower control to something that allowed better control over the water temperature. I found my old post on that project and thought others might find it useful. Find below a link to the thread which has a link to my photos complete with text.

I second Bob's recommendation. We put the exact same shower valve in ours. This is perhaps the second best upgrade we have done so far (TRW, X-braces, Watts link is the first).

The best improvement we did to our coach 5 years ago was change out the "cheap" shower valve. Now all the chassis modifications are the best while driving and the Moen is the best when we are taking a shower. Sanford

Thanks to Bob's and Roy's threads, I too changed out mine. Thank you, thank you, thank you. What a relief to be able to adjust it.

Mine was slightly different in that it used PEX to connect to the shower hose. I now have extra PEX, as I had to buy 4 feet to get the 4 inches I needed. Fortunately, I had an access panel behind my faucet.

Actually, not the shower hose, but to the fitting that connects to the shower hose.

I'm still trying to catch up with Harry. He has done way too many upgrades to his coach and he keeps his engine detailed like a show car.

This is Harry's engine. I saved it for the belt routing.

See what I mean? How does he do it? Harry, fess up!

Seriously, Harry recommended using Awsome from the Dollar Store for engine degreasing. I tried it and it works better than Gunk. at less than 1/3 the cost. I now use it for all degreasing. Deb loves it because it doesn't stink like Gunk.

That's an old picture with the plastic coolant tank. Also, since then I reversed my air filter when I changed it.

Maybe I can get it cleaned up when I retire.
