We have a '99 Windsor. Yesterday I turned on the AC on the dash and only the high speed position would work and it is VERY noisy, though it does put out a fair amount of air. I looked in the generator compartment but don't see the fan housing. How do I get at it? Does the dash have to come out? Can it be lubed or is this a remove and replace situation?
Thanks, Phil in Bonney Lake, WA

I replaced the bad fan motor in my 99 Windsor several years ago. I tried replacing the resistor pack of which yours my have an issue. High speed is direct connection to fan motor with resistors slowing speed at low speed settings. I still have the new one I purcahsed from monaco..
The fan is located behind the lower dash just to the right as you enter. If you remove the left vent you should be able to see it. ( with mirror ) I never could figure out how to remove the dash to access but what I did was removed right hand inside screws ( thru vent opening ) for wood trim then very carfully
cut the wood trim so that piece could be removed. I then cut a hole with roto zip tool so I could get to the bad fan and replace. I then covered new hole with a piece of cherry wood to match the trim and reinstalled the orginal wood trim piece.. I also installed a stainless steel grap rail for easier entry...
I'm not sure if you could lube the fan in place but I will look at the old one and see. ( If I kept it )
good luck James

Hi Jwinston, as you know that much more about the blower, can you tell us where the blower is fused? I have tried everything to find a fuse or a relay to that motor! There is nothing like that in the Generator Bay, on my 96 Dynasty! No mention of it in the front or rear run bays! I am quite sire the motor is okay, as it sounded good when it seemed to blow a fuse! Nobody would believe all the checking and work I did on this issue! Test lights and multi testers and changing Solenoids and alot of nasty talk! Help!!! Allegro5 greatallegro5@aol.com

This may help. I had to repair my resistor pack to cure the "fan-runs-on-high-speed-only" problem.

Thanks James and Dave. I will look into both of the suggestions when we get back from our upcoming trip.

I replaced a heater motor on a 99 dip in 01 or 02 and should be about the same, I will past below.
To test, unhook the 4 wire plug (on fire wall in generator
compartment) the plug is on top of the heater A/C box on passenger
side. Find a good ground and with the key on run ground out the plug
where the orange wire goes on the plug or just try the ground wire on
all 4 wires if the motor don't run as in my case it's probably bad.
Remove the 2 drawers out of the center cabinet, inside the cabinet box
you should find one square drive screw in the middle of the 1x2 and
one on each side also it was one about 6" up on the right side and one
in the top front on driver side, pull the cup holder out and there's
one behind it. Pull cabinet out I didn't have to unhook the air
registers or the 110v, I just slid it to the side by holding up on the
dash (note be careful not to press down on the dash unless the corner
of the cabinet is supporting it). There are 7 square drive screws
holding the right bottom dash to the top half, you will need a battery
screwdriver not the pistol grip type.
Take out a screw that holds the dash to the wall on the bottom right,
remove the trim in front of the door so you can spring the dash out to
get the screwdriver under the dash. Remove the 7 screws and lower dash.
Now remove the 4 clips around the fan motor and the two 3/8 nuts that
holds the case to the air distributor, the fan motor case may be stuck
with silicone just give it a tug, remove the ground and hot wire
remove the 5 phillips head screws that hold the motor to the blower
case and one screw that holds the ground wire, turn the motor over and
using a 5/16 socket remove the squirrel cage, be sure to get the
little bracket under the squirrel cage.
After installing the new blower motor, reverse the above procedure to
put things back together.
The Blower motor was $18.99 at Discount Auto Parts without the
squirrel cage, the part is # PM105 35588
As has been noted on the Monaco Board it is a 1994 or 95 Chevy PU fan
motor.

jwinston> James, I have a 96 Dynasty and no Blower fan action at all! You say you know where the fuse to the Blower is! We understand its supposed to be in the Front Run Bay! Will you tell us in which row of fuses and how many fuses down from the top of that fuse bank? I dont see it! This would be a great start to a recovery! I feel sure a fuse has blown somewhere! We all thank you! Bill> allegro5 > greatallegro5@aol.com

Thanks Walt, great, detailed information! I did pull those drawers out but didn't look too hard. I will try a little harder when we return from our trip and now I have really good info to get me started and probably finished!
