Chassis Batteries not charging again

In May, I had the same issue. I replaced the solenoid relay in the right rear compartment. Before that, the chassis batteries would not charge on shore power. Also if I pushed the button on the dash to get the house batteries to help, the solenoid would not tie in to start the engine. Replacement of the solenoid solved the issue. It worked great for a few months.

Now it's doing the same thing again. The solenoid is not working. On the solenoid, there is two large lugs on the lower and two smaller ones on the upper. Shouldn't there be 12 volts going to the small lug to activate it when I press the dash button. I don't have that.

Also the light was out on the battery isolator. So I wiggled the wires going from it to what appears to be some sort of relay switch just to the left of the isolator. The light came on. So, using some contact cleaner, I cleaned it up. Reconnecting and wiggling the wire again, the isolator light still goes on and off as I wiggle it at the small relay. The connectors and wires appear to be in great shape. No grime or corrosion. I can only assume that something inside that small ?relay looking box is going bad. Any thoughts?

The issue seems to be where the red wire on the isolator connects to the small square relay looking box on the left. Does anyone know what that is?

That is not an isolator. That is a box to keep the chassis batteries charged when on shore power.

One direct replacement is an Amp-L-Start.

A better replacement is a Blue Sea ML-ACR.

Depending on your setup, it will replace the isolator, the box that you are having trouble with, and your battery boost relay.

If you have a big boy, it will replace that too.

Blue Sea Systems ML-ACR 12V DC 500A Automatic Charging Relay with Manual Control https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001VIXLRO..._rWWNBbG6FT5WJ

Hi Monaco Wolfy; The green device is a Lampert LE-415 battery maintainer. Charges both house and chassis batteries. The relay is a Bosch. Have the same set-up in my 01 Windsor. When the light is green, both sets of batteries are being charged. You can put a volt meter on each terminal, one for the chassis and the other for the house batteries to see what voltage they are being charged at. That unit is not made anymore, but there still is information on line with specs. and how to trouble shoot the maintainer. I have those instructions in the coach that I printed out from the internet. You might have a bad terminal on the Bosch relay. Could explain why the light goes on and off when you wiggle the terminal. You can get those relays on Amazon. There are 2 types and I can't remember the exact difference. If you replace that relay, replace it with the number that is on that relay. You have others back in that rear electrical compartment. As for your battery boost solenoid, yes, I am sure one of the small terminals should be hot or show 12V when the battery boost switch is pulled. Not sure why that is not happening since you replaced it. I am going to guess that the other small terminal on the boost solenoid is the ground. Could you possibly have a bad ground on that terminal? Just a thought. Let us know what you find. Later from the other side of the sound. Good luck!

Thanks for all the good the advice and stimulating some ideas. I seem to have to many irons in the fire lately. The new flat screen is installed now. Today, the old slide covers are being removed. They are long over due. An upholsterer friend of mine is sewing up the new sunbrella fabric covers in the next few days and getting those installed. Then I should have time to get the electrical issue figured out. Never a dull moment.
