I am not sure if the chassis battery is charging while plugged in.
How can one know for sure ?

If your unit is equipped with a battery isolator relay you should be able to use a multimeter and check the battery amperage. It should read at least 12.2-12.3 as a mimimum. Remember the relay only activates after the coach batteries are fully charged. If you are not equipped with the relay you can purchase one at the following website.
http://megarvparts.com/index.phpmain...&products_id=1. It can be easily installed in less than 20 minutes. If you need assistance let me know.

Yep, put a voltmeter across the battery terminals with the MH not plugged in and record the voltage. Now plug the MH in and record the voltage. If it is charging then the voltage will be higher when plugged in.

The BIRD was standard equipment on the 2008 HR Scepter. When one battery bank is charging over 13.2 volts for 2 minutes (I forget the exact time) the relay closes and the other bank is tied in. So, the inverter/charger or alternator or solar, if equipped, will charge both battery banks in your case.
