MM,
Thanks for the flowers, but the guy that really needs to take a bow is jimlawman who sounded the alert to service these hidden cells.

WW,
Just wondering if your NEW Interstate Batteries have hidden serviceable cells or are they maintenance free.

Okay,....I fiiiinally got around to pulling the wires off of the chassis batteries during a lull in maintanance activities at the Gauranty Campground. Fishbum was a witness to my project.

I did wind up adding about one half gallon or less to the batteries. They weren't really that low, but a little lower than the bottom of the filler tubes. Now all of the tubes have water a quarter above their bottoms. Just right. They probably could have gone three years without service, but now they will last longer. This is probably a yearly or 6 month job. Having to remove the cables were a PITA but I've been in way worse situations. Oh yeah, we checked Fishbum and GoneFishn's chassis batteries and they also were the same as mine/yours. So, yup, the Cheetahs and the Caymans also have the "non-maintanance" Workaholic chassis batteries.

Thanks for the original post.

Oh great. Now I have to unhook the cables to take the caps off and suck the water back out! Sheesh! Yeah, that's right, my cables were put above the caps. The caps were also facing towards the back of the compartment and the batteries are up against the back wall. Nice eh?

Ah, the college of life.

SacsTC, your batteries are facing the opposite direction as mine and they don't have as many wires and cables attatched to the posts as mine. How did you get so lucky? Did you turn yours around or did they come like that? You lucky guy! Must be all of that good Karma.
Wanna trade? But only if your new sound system comes with it!

We have two wire bundles that are crimped at the end with a battery terminal eye. These wires are all to different chassis devices. A very poor set-up to me. These bundles are connected to the negative post on the back battery. (BTW your - and + posts are right to left, mine are left to right). I think eventually I'm going to have to move things around myself and make it easier to get to the caps. If I turned the batteries around, it would require buying longer cables which is no big deal but the wire bundles are probably not long enough and would require some extra work. The two bundles have at least ten wires in each. Not a pretty picture. First I'll have to see how much slack is actually in the cables and wire bundles. Thanks for the picture SacsTC and M.M.!

In the "For what it's worth" catagory the 31-MHD has the identical problem. My two came out about a third of a gallon low.
