Good evening,
Taking grandkids, daughter and son in law camping this weekend for the first time and wondering about the child safety seat.
Manual says the car seat should be placed in the front passenger seat but doesn't mention a additional location. I'm wondering if another can be placed on the driverside couch facing backwards and secured with the seat belts.
First and foremost I want to assure their safety and will just have them follow in the car if its not safe to do this. Would be nice to have everyone in the motorhome while we travel though.
Surely others have faced this dilema so I'm wondering what any of you have done?

I wouldn't hesitate to put them all in the motorhome, if that's what you want to do. The thing to consider about securing child seats to the sofa is the degree of side-impact protection the child seat offers. Remember that a child seat is designed mostly to protect children from fore and aft forces, since that's the usual direction of travel.

I'd think that if you give some safety consideration about which child and adult sits where in the motorhome, you'll come up with a relatively safe "seating plan" and everyone can enjoy the trip together.

Letsgoagain,

I have an 07 Neptune PDQ and my manual indicates the child safety seat can be positioned in either the front passenger seat or "forward facing permanently mounted booth dinette seat."

Haven't traveled with grandkids in this MH yet, but with previous one we did use the driverside couch for both a forward and rear facing child seat.
