Hi,

This has been an ongoing challenge to resolve since buying our used coach this summer.

At times my dashboard fan controls works fine, however it seems the next time I go to use the coach and need the fan I have lost it. As if once the board cools down it loses its connection.
I had one tech look at it who noticed that it appeared at one time someone was too aggressive with the relay and the connection points were bent. He straightened them out but that didn't fix the problem.
It was recommended I consider having a relay harness installed however the tech was told by a Monaco service rep that it may or may not fix it and he also didn't know the pro's and con's of the harness as he had never installed one. So we haven't gone that route unless more info can be found to support it.

We have changed out the relay and it still cuts out.

I can bring the power back to fan by wiggling the relay and pulling it out slightly which will usually keep it working until I shut the rig down. Then next time I have to back to the electrical bay to fiddle with the relay.

Has anyone encountered this and if so is the fix to replace that particular board?? My latest tech says he looked at the back of the board and didn't see any broken connections.

Any idea's you have would be appreciated.

My navigator doesn't think much of riding around in the electrical bay to adjust the relay when its needed.

Thanks,

Dave

Sounds like a broken trace on the circuit board or a cold/loose solder joint. If you know anybody that has diddled with electronics, let them go over all the solder connections. If they are any good they might find a cracked trace. Can't hurt. Might not solve the problem but the alternative is to replace the board. You've already replaced the relay on it. Just make sure they don't use over a 20 watt soldering iron.

It does sound like a connection on the board. I have repaired some bad solder joints and even a few blown out circuits on a few boards. Look for dull solder joints and if you see one that has a space around where it sold be soldered to the relay base that is deffinetly going to have to be redone. I think this will fix your problem, if shaking the relay brings it on at times. GOod luck and keep us posted on the outcome.
