Question City water overflows fresh tank when valve is set to CITY

Hello folks - we're new here. Proud new owners of a 2002 42' Signature. Amazing rig!

So here's the puzzle. When we hook up to fresh water and turn the ball valve to "CITY" we get great pressure, all regulated and fine. However, if it stays there for a while, the fresh water tank overflows. I know for a fact I am turned to City water, NOT to fill.

My temp. fix is to fill the tank. Turn off city water and live off of the tank. Pump is noisy but livable. Showers don't have as much pressure though and I think the pump is on it's way out (noisy, low pressure).

So my main question is, what could be causing the water to continue to fill the storage tank, even when turned away from the fill position?

Good Evening;

I had the same problem -- After taking things apart to replace the tank fill valve, I discovered that the valve handle was slightly pulled outward, allowing water to seep around the underside of the internal seal

Firm pressure put the valve back in it's normal position and the problem went away

Hope this helps your situation

I had that happen and had to replace the valve. I could not see the problem but obviously it was leaking past the brass ball. Could not find one at any local store so ordered from Monaco. I think it was about $80. Was fairly easy to replace.

Use a pressure regulator at the hose bib (faucet) -- If the pressure is to high, water will seep past the valve -- Bill Willard

Thanks guys. Opened the panel but the lever was snug. On a whim I took off the handle to the valve and rotated the nut 180 degrees. Reassembled and it held. Don't know the internals of a ball valve but I would guess the prior owner fiddled with it and turned it wrong? Anyway if it happens again I will probably just replace the valve.

Thanks for quick replies!

Hi,
Had the same problem, I loosened the nut holding the handle and whoopee! It worked.
