Cleaning cupboard areas with carpet

We purchased a 2000 dynasty and it had had mice in it. Does anyone know how to clean the cupboard areas that have carpet on them? I want to be sure to clean the cupboard really good, but not sure how to do it.

We ripped the carpet out of all the cabinets and replaced it with no-slip shelf lining material!

Think MsHappyCamper is absolutely right because there is an extremely high probability the rodents urinated on the carpet, too. The urine will stain the substrate material below the carpet; eliminate the carpet and clean the surface under the carpet. Use a good household disinfectant.

Yes the only way to be sure you are safe from what ever the contaminants may be from the rodents.

It wasn't a problem with ours. The carpet was glued to the shelves. I used pliers to pull up a corner, then got a firmer grip and ripped it right off!

I used silicone sealer to stick down the shelf liner. Just a few globs around the edges and across the middle holds it firmly in place!

Had the same problem with something spilled on the carpet that I could not get out. Carpet was stapled down. Got hold of it with pliers and it came out in about 2 minutes. Used it as a pattern and cut just 2 of those 24"x24" carpet squares to fit. They have a heavy backing and don't need any glue or anything to hold them. Did the bathroom cabinet as well. Cleaned the plywood underneath with detergent. The wife was happy so I'm happy.

I was told by one RV dealer that the "carpet" in the shelving was made recycled plastic bottles. I have no idea if he was telling the truth, but that stuff seems pretty tough to me.
I would think you could use about any cleaner you want to on this stuff. And, if you fail, you can just replace it with whatever material you want.
