I am newbe and just finished my first travel from Ontario Canada to Fort Myers Florida to New Orleans to Memphis then to Nasville. Was at the KOA that was total covered in water when I left about 16 feet of water came up in 8 hours.

So after being long winded should my 2008 HR Endeavor 40 ft be giving cold air out dash when on air/high after driving a long time? Found I needed to start Gen and turn roof unit on when driving, should this be.

My recommedation is to read this post and check some of the items mentioned and then go from there. Dash A/C Problem

A quick check for you.......With the engine running and the DASH AC on and then look at the AC compressor on the engine. Is the center part of the compressor clutch rotating or stationary?

After 4 years with our 06 Endeavor we have found that on hot days with the sun coming in the front there is no way the dash air will keep thing cool. We turn on the gen and run the roof airs.

Same here, the dash just doesn't have enough umph when it is really hot and sun is pouring in the windshield. Too bad I can't drive with my MCDS snapped on.

Add me to the pile....when its sunny out and it gets hot, the sun just bakes in and you have to gen/roof air it and that helps a great deal. For once we are camped, I have SunGuard and that helps big time..was in 100 degree Myrtle Beach weather last summer in July and that keeps AC working perfectly.

I'm not a big fan of running my generator and roof air until it gets really hot....often too late . We do a couple of things before we turn the roof air on. I added this shade Driver's Window Shade because it seems the majority of the time I'm getting baked on my side. I use to pull the window curtain partially closed, blocking the side window on my side, but it moved around too much.

During summer travel we also put up a clear shower curtain on a spring rod just behind the front seats. It fits so that there is an air gap about 6"-8" between the top of the curtain and the roof. I also turn on the Fantastic Fan on high drawing the heat off of the roof area.

Doing these few things, especially the shower curtain, can keep the coach reasonably cool.

Stuart, could you explain what you mean by "sunguard", thanks

and Don, i take it that you mean you use the shower curtain when traveling down the road, basically creating a cab affect, thats a pretty darn good idea.

Barrow Bay your dash air should blow cold air just as with a car dash air. If it feels luke warm on your hands then you have a problem.

We installed a curtain right behind the drivers and passenger seats. Works really good.

The SunGuard is a screen I put across the windshield and driver/passenger windows when we set up.....Takes me all of 3 minutes and you can see out but people can't see in. My wife purchased the set for my birthday last year. It keeps Sun from baking the windshield when camped and keeps coach cool...We were at 72 degrees inside coach during hot daylight last summer in the open. They work great. There are other brands as well out there.

As far as Dash AC goes, the problem is that the panoramic windshield lets in so much sun that the Dash AC doesn't have the oomph it needs to cool down an actively heating interior...On my last coach, the Coachmen gasser, the dash AC with workhorse was pitiful and even with new compressor and clutch it could not cool us between the doghouse and the daily sun whatsoever....I think the windshield was barely tinted, which adds fuel to the fire.
