This forum has been a lifesaver, I'm new to MHing. My coach has an Eaton Vorad Collision Warning System but there are no instructions on how to operate it. I have played with it and it works but, I don't know how to adjust it. There are only 2 knobs and a couple of lights on the dash unit. Does anybody have instructions they can Email me or a place to go on the web. I have looked it up on the web but no owners manual found there.

Thank for any help

Dave Hinds

Sorry, I can't help you. I rely on the DW as an audible Collision Avoidance System as in "look out for that _______ ", "you're too close to ______", etc, etc.

The left hand knob is the off/on switch and the alert volumn switch. The right switch is the sensitivity or range switch. The right switch will set the distance between you and the vehicle in front of you when in cruise. On the open road I will set the right hand knob at about the mid range point. In traffic at slower speeds I might turn it down to the one third position.

If you turn on a turn indicator on a side where ther is a vehicle detected then you get a warning tone and a red light on the windshield pillar LED panel.

The system computes closure rate. If a vehiclle pulls in front of you and is accelerating then it will not slow your cruise control down. If the vehicle pulls in front and slows down then the VORAD will slow the MH down. Depending on the closure rate it may apply the JAKE brake.

If you are not i cruise then it is just looking down the road and will warn you if you are approaching another vehicle too fast and will sound the alarm.

I love the system and it is really good that you don't have to keep adjusting the cruise control. The only problem is that sometimes a vehicle in front will slow way down and you will also without realizing it and suddenly you look at the speedometer and see how slow you are going. As soon as you pull out into the hammer lane the MH will speed back up.

If you stay behind a slow vehicle while in cruise and put your foot down the MH will not speed up unless you cancel the cruise or pull out into the hammer lane.

Check your email for incoming instruction books.

I love the Vorad system, it never looks away or is distracted, and can see even in a dense fog. I set my unit for 300yd warning and it really helps me keep a good distance while on the interstate. When I am not using cruise it is a great warning of a slowing or stopped vehicle ahead. However I have to remember to turn it off when in a campground or it will warn all the time. Idid not have a manual, just play with it you will like it.
