The ground and neutral connections are critical.

L1 and L2 are interchangeable, they are identified as X and Y on this web site.

LINE 1 AND LINE 2 are NOT interchangeable and should not be reversed........use an ohm meter or continuity tester from the plug and the bare wire and use the same terminals for the female plug as the male.....inside your coach line one and line two are diferent curciuts in the breaker box and the inverter

Inexpensive ~$5.00 multimeter from Harbor Freight will easily help you trace wires from one end to the other. Match up the legs and you are home. The multimeter is great for a LOT of things besides this. Use the OHMS feature to trace wires..

Why?? It does not matter which Hot goes to which side of the panel... You can trace it out and connect like you said, but how do you know the connections at the pedestal aren't reversed? Which they prolly are 'cause it makes no difference..

Check the lugs, they should be marked with a letter for color.

Sorry, L1 and L2 are interchangeable on a 120/240 volt 4 wire 50 amp service.

For the OP: Here's a link to help you with the wiring. http://www.myrv.us/Imgs/PDF/50-amp%20Service.pdf
