Converter out

We lost 12v and all that goes with that. We also have the co2 alarm beeping. Need to stop the beeping until the service guy brings a new converter. Any ideas, the screws holding it on the cabinet are weird and I don't have the correct driver.

Would help if we had more information on your coach.

For a quick, but limited solution you can connect a battery charger to your house batteries BUT MAKE SURE your connecting the 12v charger across the 12v feed. Realize that 1-pairs of 6volt batteries are connected in series to equal 12v. You may have 2 pairs or 4 batteries for your coach.

This is by no means a perfect solution, but cold charge your batteries to stop the co2 sensor from beeping. But don't try to use many 12v lights or systems.

Alternatively, if your coach has an engine. Start it and run it a bit. The engine should charge the house batteries while running.

Good luck.

BTW. If the converter is out, the Generator WILL NOT charge the house batteries. It uses the converter to do that normally.

Don't hear of many going out , are you sure ?
The converter is part of the inverter , expensive .
Did a service tech diagnose the converter ?
Other things can kill the 12 v too

Some converters are stand alone too. They usually include the 12v fuses and circuit breakers in the same box.

Tech coming out tomorrow, boy are RV techs busy. Hooked up my portable charger to the 12v batteries and after awhile the beeping stopped. Have all 12v stuff turned off so the batteries charge better. Went to Walmart and got a small electric heater to take the chill off since it is 40 degrees in L.V. Will report when the tech arrives. The converter is making a strange noise so it is probably the converter but will find out.

Most of the srews used in RV's are Robson #2.. They take a #2 Phillips, sort of, a #2 Robson, or a #2 Square. I find the square works best.

Now the screws on teh converter itself may be different But I find I work my #2 Square the hardest of all my bits

Which reminds me.. I need to bolt my COnverter back in place. It is currently lying theere non-seured.
