I purchased the concentrated version since I knew total capacity of system and flushed with distilled water. I added the full amount of concentrate required then topped off with the distilled.
Replaced Water filter with non-chemical version.

Part of my coolant flush and swap out was for hose replacement. I replaced all the main coolant hoses on the engine side and the water heater hose running to the hydrohot system as they have been known to fail on our coaches along with adding valves to the heater hoses running to the front just in case.
After seeing all the junk come out during the flush was glad I went ahead and did that.

Well...i have a final verdict. Seems my work ranch hand drained and put new ( Fleet Cool ) antifreeze shortly after we bought the coach 2 years ago. I lived out of town at the time. Asked what he used and told me Fleet Cool...did you add any SCA additives...ah NO ! Went to the Cummins dealer this morning to get things straight. They gave me the DCA4 additive to use and a new water filter plus 5 test strips. Seems this engine does not have a SCA filter so you have to monitor it with test strips. To think i almost drained everything and was going to go the Final Charge route... Cummins Crosspointe in Knoxville was great and got me up to speed on what i needed. She said it shouldn't take to much to get it back to normal...and then in 90 days send another sample to JG labs for another test.

Spk64, We have the same unit, this is my first class A (maybe I should started with a little smaller one but I'm in it now). In your post you talked about changing hose for the hydrohot system because of a known problems. What is a hydrohot system? Getting ready to do my change over to OAT (final charge recomend by Spartan)and putting new thomastat, at what point durning flushing process should I do t-stat change?

Hydrohot is a diesel fired boiler that provides hot water and heat for the coach. Aquahot is another brand and the newer Oasis systems. In the early 2000's Newmar used some defective hoses and they were known to burst. These hoses loop through the engine and the Hydrohot system to provide heat or hot water on the road.
