Cracked windshield, too!

You would have thought I'd be satisfied with a failed fan belt pulley bearing, broken fan, punctured radiator, towed motorhome, delayed trip, and monstrous repair bills, but no, that wasn't enough.

We started home last Tuesday. Several of us got sick on the way back (actually there were 3 adults and one child), and we turned a two day trip into a 5 day vomit-a-thon. Must have caught something while in Atlanta.

Today we decided come Hades or high water, we were making it back to Houston. Just past Lafayette, LA, my wife says, "Did you hear how hard that bug hit?" Then the windshield cracked about 14", starting at the base of the mid-passenger side, extending over to the driver's side mid windshield wiper. I don't think it's finished cracking yet.

All in all, not a bad trip. Anybody know a good windshield replacement shop in Houston?

Sorry bout the repair issues....during your trip.....but it will be something everyone will remember....I know PPL RV consignments in south Houston replaces glass and anything else you might need... I've replaced front glass on our coach several times from rock chips, the full length glass always chips/cracks.... Enjoy

Bud,

Sorry to hear about your problems. Check out RV Glass Solutions (RV Glass Repair Replacement | Recreational Vehicle Windshields Replacement | broken motor home glass windshield | cracked motorhome glass | windows broken | RV Glass Experts Solutions). I haven't had to use their services but did speak with them at the Northeast FMCA Rally. They apparently have a network of facilities that are experienced with RV windshields and can arrange to find someone in your area.

I just got my windshield replaced through a company called Nomad Glass. Their # is (800) 808-9762. They did a great job. They do nationwide service.

I second this recommendation. They replaced our windshield in April 2009 and we were quite satisfied with their installation and we have had no problems with the new windshield. Although our insurance paid nearly all of the cost, according to our insurance carrier they are one of the lowest cost RV glass replacement companies. They are based in Eugene, OR and are very familiar with Monaco coaches. As mentioned above they have a national network of shops that do installations for them. In the unlikely event that you have a problem with their installation, it is nice to know that there are many places you can go to have it fixed under their warranty (I think it is 90 days).

I found that RV Glass Solutions was defficult to deal with. Too many different people to talk to. I got mine replaced at Nomad Glass. There are only a few people in the office, so you can talk to the same person EVERY TIME, which I thought was really helpfull. They do nationwide service as well. They did a remarkable job on my windshield replacement. Their # is 800-808-9762. I would recommend them.

Of course, I can't comment on your experience, but when we were arranging our windshield replacement I only dealt with one person (besides the installers) at RV Glass Solutions and they were very helpful. They minimized our hassle and took care of everything with the insurance folks. Just wanted to offer another take...
