Cranking in awning manually??

06 signature, I have the manual and the crank rod, but I must be dumb as dirt? Can’t see how the rod connects to crank it in? Manual picture layout and my awling don’t match 🤨. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Which awning do you have?
If it's the Girard, there is a crank "socket" that the crank arm fits into so you can manually open/close the awning.

It’s standard rod with a little T on the end. Picture shows it sliding into a bell housing but I have no bell housing

The bell housing is inside the "cutout" in awning housing (hanging downward direction but not hanging out of awning cover). On mune the cutout is against the side of coach near entry door.

This is what the opening looks like on my Girard awning.

Also, to post a picture you scroll down below the text box (your typing your message in) and under Additional Options there is a button that says "Manage Attachments". Click that and then use the "Add A File" button to add your picture. A new window will open and you locate the picture to upload. select that file and click "Upload".
Note the the picture must be 300 KB or smaller in size.

Oh - are you asking about the little 3ft wide awning over the door or the big 12ft patio awning?

On my coach the awning over the door is made by Carefree Of Colorado and the big patio awning is made by Girard.

No, not asking about 3 ft door awning, I understand it, I’m referring to the 2 large patio awnings. Thanks for instructions, I’ll get pictures up shortly.

Sounds like someone has replaced the awnings. Newer Girards do not have the crank and cut out arrangement. You use a hex drive socket on the top to crank in manually.

Contact Girard or Google for a new operator manual.
