Whew survived this one! This evening a line of thunderstorms went through with 70-90 mph staight line winds. Quite a a bit of damage around the Evansville area from what I'm hearing on the news.
When the storm line was approaching I was outside watching it and made a quick retreat to the house when it hit. I watched as the trees started violently bending and then a deer scared up from somewhere ran across the yard across the road and into the neighbor's bushes. Kind of surreal looking, at first I thought it was flying. Headed for the basement at that point.
The temp.dropped from 57 to 30 in about and hour and right now the wind is still blowing 30 mph sustained with gusts over 40. I was afraid to go out in the driveway and look at the motorhome as the neighbor has a huge pine tree next to where I park. Thankfully its still standing.
Keep in mind that this is the end of January and just a few days ago we had a low of 5 degrees. Now a high of 57 for the day and back to 18 tonight. Crazy weather.

That was our storm over the weekend, we had thunder snow and ended up with almost 5 feet.

OK...I must admit it... your "Mama" is a snow virgin no more!! ..Yep "MonacoMama had never driven in the snow until tonight! It reminded me of ""white silly string" being sprayed at me!
I am glad I had a short drive ...and that the snowfall was not like the other day!
Glad everyone else is safe...

(Actually, when you are driving at night, with your headlights shining into falling snow flakes, it DOES sort of look like that... kinda.)

Probably has something to do with being dropped on her head a few times in her youth? Or maybe she's been frequenting some of those now-famous LaLaLand vending machines.

Good job M.M.!
Welcome to the snow club. I hope all you Californians remembered the 4 lettered "s" word; "slow". That helped me see 36 white Christmases in a row.
Good analogy about the silly string effect. When you drive in the dark and you see that, after awhile you start hallucinating. Yesss, I was sober.
I'm enjoying the nice flat desert roads this winter, finally! Today we go to Amato, AZ for a month of relaxation in the sun. The clear skies are a beauty to behold with the sun rising over the mountains here in Yuma. Time to see another sunrise from another angle.
Don't worry people, Springs just around the corner!

(God will get me for all of that bragging, I'm sure of it. Serves me right.

Ok, I give up. Where is Amato, AZ? I have lived in Arizona for forty years and know most cities, towns, etc. The only ones I have to look up are usually on the reservation. But, I couldn't even find Amato on Delorme. Just curious.

Happycarz,
Ha ha, faked you out, uh, er....okayyy I goofed up the spellinnnngggg!
Drifter got it right. Man somebody turn up the heat around this place! I just got here and it's in the fifties today. It's supposed to be in the 30's tonight as in the rest of the desert towns. What is this anyway? All of us northerners, Canadians included, are wondering about this wierd winter we're having this far south. I told you God will get me.
Luckily it IS supposed to warm up. It better because we're spending a month down here.
AK
