I'm curious if I'm not getting to 6th gear or if it's something else. Steve at Ocala Detroit Diesel/Allison is a very sharp service manager. I'll give him a call Monday too.

Anyone else have a Dynasty tag with a 350 HP ISC and the Allison MD3000? What RPMs do you cruise at?

we have the 370 ISL and the 3000, 41 foot tag, 1650-1700 at 65 in 6th gear
according to tach and speedo.

Thanks Moxy. Perhaps my problem is just going a couple more mph to get it to shift into 6th. I was only doing 62.

Jeff,
Do you have Econo turned on that will shift into the next gear sooner and will
hold down shifting off until you are at or below max torque.

No. I had boost problems that I just had fixed (about a 8" crack in the charge air cooler). Before that if I used Econ I had very limited power. I was so excited to see 23# of boost I forgot to try Econ. I'm hoping that will force the shift to 6th a tad earlier. I like going about 62 for my wranglers sake. .

Glad you found the problem on the boost.
You will find with the Econo mode turned on you will see the transmission shift
into the next higher gear much sooner.
If you have not read the post about Econe mode operation in the Allison section
it is worth the time.

Great recommendation. I had not ventured into the Allison forum before. Great stuff!!! Gratitude!

Sanford, did you even READ the owners post? Your comments are a waste of the readers time. If you dont have information useable by the OP then dont post; this is not an editorial page

I noticed yesterday (now that I have my boost issue resolved) I was running at 62 at just under 2000 RPMs.
Having read this thread that seems high on the RPMs. I was not in Econ mode.

Does that indicate I am stuck in 5th. I guess I could manually shift and see what gear I am actually in. What's a good shift point for this test.
Update. Drove from Sarasota to Disney today. Could not repeat the 2000 RPM at 62. I was running around 1300 RPM at 62 in 6th. Later I noticed I was running at 1500 at 62. I could down shift to 5th and run up to 1650 or so but never get to 2000 at 62.

Might be a bad read out on the tach? Don't know if it's related but the speedometer does vary from actual road speed (matches trip tech and GPS ) to 10% over real speed. Today it would even bounce to max on occasion. I tapped on it and I could get it to react. I think I'll pull the dash cover and see if I can clean some connectors on both the tach and the speedometer.

Jeff

Jeff,

glad you have some boost back, but still wondering....
My 08 360hp ICS peaks at right at 36 psi, dash gauge and Alladin agree.

I asked cummins if 23# was normal for my 2001 ISC 350hp and they said it was. My dash gauge max is 30# on the gauge. It starts a bit below zero so I probably get 25# or so.

When stock our ISC was 24-25 psi, with the Banks it's 34-36 psi. Banks worked closely with Cummins when developing their products so as not to overstress the engine and cause warranty problems. I'm sure there was a flow of data both ways and Cummins benefited from Banks testing.

Just came north (to soon it snowed last nite and a foot is expected tonite) about 2000 miles and I put in 249 gal , in three fuel stops, so I think that makes 8 MPG. Vmspc shows 8.4 but what does a computer know?

I ran at just over under 1600 prms on vmspc and it was 59 63 mph going on flats and down hill. Up hill it slows down a tad. It held 6 th gear on all but the two or three steeper hills on I 35.
I have an 03 ISL 400 mfg in 2002 with almost no emissions but the ecm works just fine.
