My lifter failed at 39000 miles on a 2000 Monaco Diplomat. I would be tempted to check the cam and lifters before you install the replacement engine. Best of luck.

jdecastro, what size motor in that Diplomat?

That was the first thing I checked when this motor arrived. The lash on all of the valves are well within spec., and are also within .000"-.002" of each other. I was going to remove my Banks Stinger Kit, but this new motor came from a coach that had the same kit already.

extra Stinger kit?

Mark,

Glad to hear the replacement engine was as hoped - condition wise. Had you thought of parting with the other Banks kit? I'd be interested if so, mines an 04 ISC and I could always use a little more push up the hills. Send me a message if you consider it.

Thanks and good luck with the R&R,

Allen

Wow, I'm beginning to see a trend here, because it's not just you and I. I had just over 100K mi. on mine. I'm going to start a new thread about these 8.3's 2000-2003.

Thanks for the info.

Update. 8/18/14

I pulled my motor today. That was quite a job. I have both motors setting next to each other. I'll need to change over a few minor things, but mostly, looks good to go.

Mark,

I'm impressed! How did you pull the motor?

Paul, I put about 10" of blocks under the rear tires, then I use two tall bottle jacks to raise the frame above the suspension. I ended up with 44" of clearance from the bottom of the apron, to the floor. Having a transmission jack is a huge advantage. A neighbor with a forklift is handy also. With the trans. setting on the jack, out of the way, I used an engine hoist to lower the motor straight down to a pallet. I used the forklift to slide the motor out from underneath.

Nicely done.

There are times where a forklift would be very handy.

I'm back on the road again. I need to get a few miles on it, then give it a twice over, and put the mud flap back on. Everything on this motor seems to be good.

Thanks Paul, It's a huge relief to have this project finally buttoned up. It's been down since Feb.
